Police Blotter - Jefferson County 5/6/25

Kaiden Allen Diaz (20) 25791 NYS RT 37 Apt# 203 - Diaz is charged with Theft of Services & Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Police reports state Diaz did intentionally commit theft of services when he ordered a taxi ride and did not have the money to pay after arriving at his destination. He was found in possession  of a double edged knife, or dagger with intentto use it unlawfully against another. He was transported to PSB, processed and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Theodore Ray Richardson (34) 110 Flower Ave W. - Richardson was pulled over on the 600 block of Bronson St. in the city and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & Driving While Registration Suspended. He was processed on scene and released wqith two appearance tickets for city court.

Matthew Hobart Lynch (44) 515 Bradley St. Apt# 6 - Lynch is charged by police with Petit Larceny. Reports state he entered the Colonial Laundromat and searched the pockets of a jacket that did not belong to him resulting in 2 sets of car keys, a set of keys and $35.00 in assorted money being stolen. He was trandported to PSB, processed, and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Mackey Joe West (59) 611 Factory St. Apt# 30 - West is charged by police with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Police say West possessed thirteen glassine envelopes which contained a white powdery substance that tested positive of fentanyl. He was transported to PSB, processed and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Amy Nichole Hayward (49) 303 High St. Apt# 2 - Hayward was arrested by city police on a Violation of Probrabtion. She was transported to PSB, processed and turned over to the JCSO.

Cordell Walton Douglas (30) Homeless - Douglas was arrested by police on a Violation of Probabtion warrant. He was transported to PSB, processed, and turned over to JCSO.

Danielle Sharee Warren (38) 38 S Main St - Warren is charged  with Disorderly Conduct.  Warren is accused of screaming in the common area and out front of 120 1/2 Keyes Ave. in the city, by slamming the front door, causing a bulletin board to fall off the wall in the common hallway which was disrupting to multiple tenants.She was transported to PSB, processed, and released with an appearance ticket.

Lars Michael Mercer (23) 439 S Mechanic St, Carthage, N.Y. - Mercer was stopped on the 400 block of State St. and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Inadequate Lights. He  was transported to PSB, Processed, where a chemical test yeilded a 0.14% BAC. He was turned over to Fort Drum PMO with appearance tickets for city court.

Former Mayor Under Scrutiny For Asking For Ride

In December 2024, a video surfaced showing former Watertown Mayor Jeffrey Smith receiving a ride home in a police patrol car after a night of holiday drinking. The incident has sparked controversy, with City Councilman Cliff Olney accusing Smith of receiving "preferential treatment" from the Watertown Police Department.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media this week, depicts Smith interacting with officers before being escorted into the patrol car. Councilman Olney contends that such actions undermine public trust and suggest a double standard in law enforcement practices.

In response, Smith has downplayed the incident, stating, "It's not a big deal, I drive on a suspended registration too!" This remark has further fueled the debate, with critics arguing that it reflects a dismissive attitude toward legal obligations and public safety.

City of Watertown - Police Blotter 4/29/25

Justin David Childers (37) 355 Keyes Ave - Childers was arrested by police for two counts of Harassment in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Resisting Arrest & Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree degree. Police report state that he did knowingly and intentionally kick an interior bedroom door causing the door to break. Police stay he also with the intent to harass annoy or alarm another person did knowingly grab the victim by her clothing while she attempted to get away from the defendant during a domestic incident. When police arrived he did knowingly unintentionally push a uniformed officer during a criminal investigation. When placed under arrest he tensed his arms and refused to provide his hands for handcuffing. While police attempted to process Mr Childers he refused to provide fingerprints or photographs for his arrest processing. He was held pending his arraignment to City Court.

Police Blotter - City of Watertown 4/25/25

Andrea Ann Brozzo (40) 409 Academy St - Brozzo was arrested on the 500 block of Clay Street in the city on an executive bench warrant for Jefferson County family Court. The defendant was transported to PSB, processed, and turned over to the Jefferson County sheriff's office.

Elvin Brandon Nieves (33) 25791 NYS RT 37 Apt#109 - Nieves is charged by police with public lewdness in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance in the Seventh degree. Police report state that the defendant exposed his genitals to a female victim as well as a 3-year-old juvenile and did intentionally stroke his genitals while speaking to another victim at Holy Family Church located at 129 Winthrop Street. The defendant was also previously convicted of public lewdness on 04/03/2025. He was arrested on the above charges and transported to PSB where he was processed and released with an appearance ticket for Watertown city court with a date of 04/28/2025 at9:00 am.

Police Blotter - City of Watertown 4/11/25

Robert Emery Marion III (28) 163 WINTHROP STREET Apt# 3 - Marion is charged by police with criminal contempt in the first degree and harassment in the second degree. Police reports state that he did knowingly and intentionally grab a 30-year-old female DOB 02/02/1995 by her hair and then struck her in the side of the head with a closed fist. He was transported to PSB, processed and held pending arraignment.

Amber Marie Come (36) HOMELESS - Come is charged by city police with criminal mischief and the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree. Report state she was found in possession of a key fob owned by Washington Street properties which was reported stolen earlier. She was transported to PSB where she was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to Watertown city court on 04/29/25.
