Arrests:

  • Desiree C. Cummings, 38, of Watertown – Arrested for Petit Larceny. Allegedly stole merchandise from a retail store on Arsenal Street. Issued an appearance ticket.

  • Brandon M. Evans, 23, of Watertown – Charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree (Weapon) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. Evans allegedly threatened an individual with a pocketknife during a dispute near Public Square.

  • Cody J. Roy, 31, of Watertown – Arrested for Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree following a domestic dispute in violation of an active stay-away order. Suspect reportedly damaged property at the scene.

  • Deavon A. Johnson, 28, of Watertown – Charged with Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree after allegedly interfering with officers attempting to break up a fight on Court Street.

  • Trevon J. Dennis, 34, of Watertown – Arrested for Aggravated Family Offense and Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree. Police say Dennis has prior convictions and violated an order of protection by confronting a protected party.

  • Raymond R. Van Epps, 41, of Watertown – Taken into custody on a Bench Warrant issued by City Court related to previous charges.

  • Robert M. Bostic, 26, of Watertown – Charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree after officers allegedly discovered a small quantity of heroin during a traffic stop.

  • Kavon A. Lewis, 26, of Watertown – Arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree. Police allege Lewis struck a man during a bar altercation and resisted arrest.

  • Jakari A. Pierce, 22, of Watertown – Charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree. Accused of violently robbing a man near Stateway Plaza. Victim sustained a broken nose.

  • Ryan P. McCormick, 29, of Watertown – Arrested for Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct. Officers say he refused to leave a private residence and shoved a tenant.

  • Todd J. Porter, 54, of Watertown – Charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree following a reported fight outside a bar on Mill Street. Victim suffered bruising and a cut above the eye.

  • Alexis L. Santiago, 21, of Watertown – Arrested for Menacing in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree after allegedly brandishing a boxcutter during a verbal dispute.

  • Brianna L. Wilson, 26, of Watertown – Charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance where she allegedly struck another individual multiple times.

  • Aaron R. Ladouceur, 26, of Watertown – Arrested for Trespass after being found inside a vacant residence on Factory Street without permission.

  • Jackie A. Mitchell, 40, of Watertown – Facing multiple felony charges including Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Accused of breaking into an apartment and stealing electronics and jewelry valued over $3,000.

  • Diamond S. Lane, 32, of Watertown – Charged with Petit Larceny for allegedly stealing items from a local convenience store. Issued an appearance ticket.

  • Shane M. Brant, 26, of Watertown – Arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree after officers located a stolen bicycle in his possession during a traffic stop.

  • Kevin D. Davis, 35, of Watertown – Charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Petit Larceny. Allegedly entered an occupied residence unlawfully and stole small electronics.

  • Ronnie C. Stiles, 37, of Watertown – Arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree following a workplace altercation in which a coworker was punched repeatedly in the head.

  • Cameron D. Johnson, 20, of Watertown – Charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree. Officers recovered a stolen laptop during a search of his backpack.

John A. Smith, 45, Watertown – Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
Arrested following a traffic stop on State Route 3. BAC registered at 0.12%.

Emily R. Johnson, 32, Adams – Petit Larceny
Charged after allegedly shoplifting items valued at $150 from a local retailer.

Lewis County

Michael T. Brown, 28, Lowville – Criminal Mischief 4th Degree
Arrested for allegedly damaging property during a domestic dispute.

Oswego County

Sarah L. Davis, 37, Fulton – Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree
Stopped for a traffic violation; found to have a suspended license.

Daniel K. Thompson, 50, Oswego – Assault 3rd Degree
Arrested following an altercation resulting in minor injuries to another individual.

The incident has sparked controversy, with City Councilman Cliff Olney accusing Smith of receiving "preferential treatment" from the Watertown Police Department.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media this week, depicts Smith interacting with officers before being escorted into the patrol car. Councilman Olney contends that such actions undermine public trust and suggest a double standard in law enforcement practices.

In response, Smith has downplayed the incident, stating, "It's not a big deal, I drive on a suspended registration too!" This remark has further fueled the debate, with critics arguing that it reflects a dismissive attitude toward legal obligations and public safety.

City of Watertown - Police Blotter 4/29/25

Justin David Childers (37) 355 Keyes Ave - Childers was arrested by police for two counts of Harassment in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Resisting Arrest & Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree degree. Police report state that he did knowingly and intentionally kick an interior bedroom door causing the door to break. Police stay he also with the intent to harass annoy or alarm another person did knowingly grab the victim by her clothing while she attempted to get away from the defendant during a domestic incident. When police arrived he did knowingly unintentionally push a uniformed officer during a criminal investigation. When placed under arrest he tensed his arms and refused to provide his hands for handcuffing. While police attempted to process Mr Childers he refused to provide fingerprints or photographs for his arrest processing. He was held pending his arraignment to City Court.

Police Blotter - City of Watertown 4/25/25

Andrea Ann Brozzo (40) 409 Academy St - Brozzo was arrested on the 500 block of Clay Street in the city on an executive bench warrant for Jefferson County family Court. The defendant was transported to PSB, processed, and turned over to the Jefferson County sheriff's office.

Elvin Brandon Nieves (33) 25791 NYS RT 37 Apt#109 - Nieves is charged by police with public lewdness in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance in the Seventh degree. Police report state that the defendant exposed his genitals to a female victim as well as a 3-year-old juvenile and did intentionally stroke his genitals while speaking to another victim at Holy Family Church located at 129 Winthrop Street. The defendant was also previously convicted of public lewdness on 04/03/2025. He was arrested on the above charges and transported to PSB where he was processed and released with an appearance ticket for Watertown city court with a date of 04/28/2025 at9:00 am.

Police Blotter - City of Watertown 4/11/25

Robert Emery Marion III (28) 163 WINTHROP STREET Apt# 3 - Marion is charged by police with criminal contempt in the first degree and harassment in the second degree. Police reports state that he did knowingly and intentionally grab a 30-year-old female DOB 02/02/1995 by her hair and then struck her in the side of the head with a closed fist. He was transported to PSB, processed and held pending arraignment.

Amber Marie Come (36) HOMELESS - Come is charged by city police with criminal mischief and the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree. Report state she was found in possession of a key fob owned by Washington Street properties which was reported stolen earlier. She was transported to PSB where she was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to Watertown city court on 04/29/25.

Police Blotter - Jefferson County 5/8/25

Charles Lewis Schweinsberg IV (45) 168 Sterling St. Apt.# 1 - Schweinsberg is charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. Police reports state that he ran away from law enforcement during an official investigation into a domestic incident. He was issued an appearance ticket for city court.

Davis Avalos (39) 3 Academy Place - Avalos is charges with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree & Criminal Mischief  in the Fourth Degree. Police reports detail that Avalos intentionally swiped multiple glasses, valued at $25 belonging to Carmen Garcia, off a memorial causing them to break during a domestic incident. Police reports also state he was in violation of a valid stay away order. He was transported to PSB, processed and held at JCJ pending his arraignment.

Kelly Ann Butera (52) 30 Oneida St. Clevland, N.Y. - Butera is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, and No turn signal. Reports state she was found insion of a crystaline like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. She was transported to PSB, processed, and released with appearance tickets for city court.

Michelle Ann Spies (55) 335 W Main St. Apt# 4 - Spies is charged with Falsely Reporting An Incident in the Third Degree. Police reports state she knowingly reported, by calling 911, that Desmond Bond was overdosing when she could see him outside and was clearly not overdosing. She was transported to PSB, processed, and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Nikolas Jordan Bonham-Kovalik (26) 24529 Moffat Rd - Bonham-Kovalik is charged by police with Aggravated DWI, DWI with a Conviction in the previous 10 years, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Failure to Keep Right, & Circumventing an Interlocking Device. He was arrested and released with 5 appearance tickets for city court.

Kylie Marie Rivers (37) Homeless - Rivers is charged by city police with Petit Larceny. Reports state she did knowingly steal merchandise worth $7.47 from the General Store, located at 816 Bradley St. She was transported to PSB, processed,and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Police Blotter - Jefferson County 05/07/25

Jeanie Marie Fessette (32) 723 Franklin St Apt.# 1 - Fessette is charged with two charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance while being picked up on a bench warrant out of city court. Police reports state she was found in possession of four glassine envelops containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for Fentanyl, as well as a baggie and a clear tube both containing a crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. She was transported to PSB, processed, and held on a bench warrant.

Amber Lee Burns (33) Homeless - Burns was arrested for Trespassing. Reports state that she did knowingly enter and remain at 515 Bradley St. in the city without permission. She was processed on scene and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Michael Jamison Duff (34) Homeless - Duff is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Reports state he did unlawfully posses a small clear container containing 3 small rocks of a clear crystal like substance which tested positive methamphetamine. He was transported to PSB, processed and released with an appearance ticket for city court.

Jayden Keshawn Vance -McEachern (34) 224 Palmer St. - McEachern is charged with Assault in the Third Degree. Police reports state the defendant, with intent to cause physical injury, he threw a shot glass at the victim, Bella Stevens, causing a laceration above her right eye.He was transported to PSB, processed and held pending arraignment.

Christopher Michael Conrad (29) Homeless - Conrad is charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree. Reports state he did knowingly and unlawfully entered a vacant building throught the rear entrance without permission of the property manager. He was transported to PSB, processed, and released with an appearance ticket for city court.
