Disgraced New York Attorney General Letitia James, issued a stark warning to local hospitals Monday, threatening them with legal consequences if they dare to comply with President Trump’s executive order banning sex-change procedures for minors—effectively forcing medical institutions to disregard federal directives or face punishment under state discrimination laws.
"Regardless of the availability of federal funding, we write to further remind you of your obligations to comply with New York State laws, including those that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their membership in a protected class, such as sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, national origin, citizenship or immigration status, military status, disability, or marital status,” James wrote in a letter to New York healthcare professionals on Monday.

James, 66, called on the public to act as informants, urging anyone who witnesses “potential violations” to report them to the New York Attorney General’s Office—effectively deputizing citizens to aid in her crackdown.
"Electing to refuse services to a class of individuals based on their protected status, such as withholding the availability of services from transgender individuals based on their gender identity or their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, while offering such services to cisgender individuals, is discrimination under New York law,” her letter added.

Her letter follows a growing trend of hospitals nationwide scaling back so-called “gender-affirming care,” seemingly in response to Trump’s January 28 executive order aimed at “protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation.” The letter comes a week after James made the announcement that she will lead a coalition of 22 other attorneys generals suing to stop the implementation of the new Trump administration policy that orders the withholding in funding.
James who has most recently rejected President-elect Donald Trump's request to walk away from her office's $486 million civil fraud judgment against him. A move that in a statement, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung called James' letter "sad and weak." He added, "AG James should heed President Trump’s call for national unity and drop this baseless, discredited witch hunt." This latest move from the NY Attorney General, shows she's on track for more of the same.

James who's 2018 campaign ran on a 'GET TRUMP ' platform as the then President sat in office vowed she'll pursue every legal avenue to investigate him and his financial dealings. Upon taking office and accused of carrying a personal and political bias James had previously been quoted saying, "I don't really pay much attention to Mr. Trump," James said later. "I look forward to seeing him in court when I assume my new position."
"We're going to continue to look at his business transactions and his holdings here in the state of New York," James told NY1 in recent interview in January of 2025. It would seem that James's latest move in an attempt to block medical professionals from Trump's executive order that directes agencies to take steps to make sure that hospitals receiving federal research and education grants end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children is yet another attempt to remain a relevant thorn in the side of New Yorkers and the newly elected President's second term.
