Atlanta, GA -- 12/03/25 -- Emergency crews are actively responding to a significant carbon monoxide (CO) leak at the Residence Inn by Marriott, located at 134 Peachtree Street NW in downtown Atlanta. The incident has prompted a large-scale emergency response, as multiple medical emergencies have been reported within the building.

According to initial reports, a serious carbon monoxide leak has impacted several individuals in the high-rise hotel. Among the affected, one adult and two pediatric patients were found semi-conscious on the 20th floor of the building. Emergency medical teams are currently on-site, providing immediate care to stabilize the patients and facilitate their safe evacuation.

The severity of the situation has led to the issuance of a second alarm, ensuring that additional resources are available for both medical assistance and the safe evacuation of the building’s residents and guests. Firefighters, hazardous materials teams, and other emergency responders are actively working to address the leak and mitigate any further risks. Their efforts include assessing the source of the CO leak, coordinating evacuations, and monitoring the building for any residual hazards that could pose a continued threat to safety.

   Watertown, NY – A 47-year-old pedestrian remains in critical but stable condition at a Syracuse hospital after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Carthage resident. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and High Street.  

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, suffered numerous fractures, lacerations, and internal injuries. Following the crash, emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the individual was airlifted by LifeNet to a hospital in Syracuse for advanced medical care.  

The Watertown Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Authorities have not disclosed details about the circumstances of the crash but stated no charges will be filed at this time.  

In an effort to piece together the events leading to the collision, police are asking for assistance from the public. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information related to it is urged to contact the Watertown Police Department at (315) 782-2233.  

This tragic event highlights the importance of vigilance by both drivers and pedestrians at busy intersections. As the investigation continues, the community waits for updates on the pedestrian’s recovery and the findings of the police inquiry.
